FYI, Baju Panjang/Kebaya Panjang was the original form of Kebaya before early 1900s. The earliest account of Kebaya was worn in 1700s in Batavia by Chinese men (baju panjang style with baggy sleeves of blue or white cotton). Their women of that time were Balinese women, mostly barechested.

Fascinating recount of a life story. Concubines and having many wives were a common thing back then, and one can even argue that the majority of Penang's population could have been related to each other. When I was a kid, I used to sit and listen as my mother and her friends would be chatting about someone who is related to another and another and another as they would spend hours unravelling the relationship links. Fascinating times indeed.
